Jasta 5 Recruiting Tent

Ltn. Charles Ludwig vonKrabbenhft, Recruiting Officer

Answer the Call to the Air!

Jasta 5 has been ordered by the Kaiser to provide reinforcement to the Central Forces efforts on the Western Front.  If you are new to online WWI gaming or are experienced but have never flown with a Jasta in organized events you are encouraged to enlist with Jasta 5. Just fly your crate to Boistrancourt Aerodrome.  There is a hangar waiting for you!

Joining a Jagdstaffel, or Jasta*, can add a whole new dimension to your online WW I gaming experience.  Throughout the year there are several organized online tournaments utilizing various strategies and tactics which you can only participate in as a member of Jasta 5.

*the term 'Jasta' is short for Jagdstaffel, which translates from German to English as "Hunting Squadron".

Membership is Free:

Jasta 5 is a member supported group, and accepts voluntary financial support from existing members.  Operating expenses include a state of the art dedicated training server available for our pilots 24/7 to practice and train safely in, as well as this website and forum hosting, and a commercial 24/7 separate dedicated communications server (Radio Room), as well as incidental expenses such as pilot retention and recognition programs.  Monthly expenses not covered by voluntary donations from the general membership are the responsibility of the Jasta leadership (officers).

World Wide Membership:

Jasta 5 is a world wide team oriented group.  Our pilots are from around the world.  Pilots have joined from North America, Western and Eastern Europe and even Africa and Australia, to name a few. Because of this, when we fly our training missions and campaigns, we fly during times most convenient for all time zones involved.  The Jasta also has it's own online "radio communications" available for pilots to meet each other in 24 hours a day, 7 days a week (except when on occasion when allied sappers cut the lines!)

Experienced Pilots:

If you are an experienced pilot, perhaps you would like to enjoy the thrill of realistic planned bombing runs on enemy factories and bridges or want to fly in a fighter "Kette", intercepting enemy bombers who are attacking our supply depots!  Perhaps you wish to gain recognition and earn the respect and appreciation from others for your skills and contributions.

New Volunteer Pilot Candidates:

If you are new to the world of WW I sims, by joining our Jagdstaffel (Jasta), you will meet and fly with other fellow pilots who are interested in assisting you with the technical questions we all have when starting out.  The Jasta will also assist you in learning the nuances of your Fokker DrI, D.VII or Albatros D.III as you develop the flying skills necessary to be victorious in the virtual skies over Europe!  Enlist today!

Other Pre Qualification Requirements for Membership:

Jasta 5 pilots are mature adults.  Membership is typically open to virtual pilots 21 years or older.  We've had some valuable members younger than this however.  If you are a somewhat younger than 21, but a skilled flight simmer who can act mature, please connect with us via the Radio Room and fly with us (see the Radio Room tab on the left).  If you seem like you are a good fit we'll invite you to apply.
